Because a 20 mile day is not enough we thought we would add an extra  mile or two for fun. It’s not like we got lost, more like we were misplaced. We knew where we were it’s just that was not where we were suppose to be, but more on that later.  As this was our first trip up Allen and based upon all the horror stories,  we thought a pre-dawn start would be advisable. Walking by head lamp we passed  right by the turn at Lake Jimmy and followed a well defined path (tote road) until first light revealed  we were at the Lower Work.   A quick reorientation and we rejoined the trail past Lake Sally. Beautiful autumn day, sunny but cold, ice up high.  Lunch on top. We  made it down before dark.  21 miles give or take,  10.5 hours.
